GEOG * 2480 – Mapping and GIS F,W (3-2) [0.50]

This course for the most part I found pretty boring. It\'s a relatively easy course, 50% of your total mark are from labs, and if you put in a bit of work, you will do well on them. The midterm is the hardest part of the course and even then, it wasn\'t really that bad, and the final is easier. As far as material goes, unless you are interested in GIS and Mapping, this course is very boring and I found myself stop going to the lectures just because you can learn the material from the slides. Professor Bonnycastle is a good prof and he does teach the material well. But if you don\'t need this course or are not interested in GIS, I wouldn\'t recommend taking it.

The class is pretty fun in general. It's interesting to learn about mapping at a basic level. The lectures are kind of boring at times, the prof is monotone which can be really dull to listen to. But sometimes there's videos or the class ends earlier. Labs are probably the biggest thing for this class, they're time consuming so make sure you don't leave it to the last minute because you never finish it during the lab time, you have to make extra time to work on it either at home or in the lab. Midterm and Final is pretty standard. Adam drops a lot of hints so you know what to study. I didn't have the textbook but I'm guessing its really useful because I struggled now and then when I didnt have it.

Adam is very monotone and just talks, blah blah blah. But he does explain things clearly. Lectures kindof boring but helpful if one can sit through them. The labs are annoying but its the whole point of the course. They arnt difficult, just time consuming. YOu can never finish during the lab times, there is always extra hmwk.
