Howells makes the class so interesting. Would definitely recommend taking it with her if you can. It isn\'t overly difficult, and she involves the class with discussions between students alot.

This was a weird class, I didn't really show up to most lectures. Morton has a really weird style of teaching, and didn't get into the course material for weeks. The marking was also strange, on some things I would get 50% and then 100% on the next thing. She has online discussions, just do them and you'll get a super high grade. I honestly though I would fail the class since I didn't own the textbook and I was lazy all semester, but I ended up with an 80. Honestly a super easy class. Pay attention to the songs (Which I just hated.) I ended up with a 96% on the final exam, don't even know how.

Great class, Shvarts makes the material very interesting and even gives you all the short answer questions before the midterm and final. Work hard on your essay and you will do well and you dont need the textbook! its a complete waste of money.

I had prof Morton who was great! You can tell that she really loves and cares about what she is teaching. She sent emails out to the entire class often which were very sweet! If you have a chance to talk to her in person, definitely do it! She is very nice! The weekly quizzes were kind of annoying, but in total they were worth 20% of our grade. Plus we had an unlimited amount of time for each quiz so if you didn't know some answers you could just look them up online! Also, I wasn't really interested in the course content at first, but once I started reading the textbook I realized how interesting the material actually was! I'd recommend getting the textbook for sure.

I absolutely hated this class, I felt like Prof. Morton dragged out the lectures to no end and half of what she said made absolutely no sense. The reading requirements are ridiculous on top of your other courses and because you usually don't have time (or the desire) to read you do horrible on the quizzes. A boring class, and I know its a mandatory for some programs like CJPP but a warning, do the readings and you can skip the lectures.

i had hathaway, and hes so awesome. very chill and funny. 2 midterms and a final that were MC and essay question. they were fair but make sure you read the textbook and go to his lecture since he doesnt post notes you just type/write as fast as you can while he just stands and talks (but makes you pay attention so its good) i recommend it as an elective if thats what you want. typical soc course

Great class with Prof Morton, she made everything interesting and the online quizzes were just hard enough that it was easy to learn from mistakes. I definitely suggest this course if you like learning about theories and why people commit crime!

I had a bad experience with this class. It was a 3-hour night class with O'Grady. The talk was pointless, the readings difficult to stick to, and the tests were only a little bit difficult (typically some multiple choice and 1 essay question). If you plan on taking this course I highly suggest avoiding O'Grady and the night slot.

Pretty chill class if you get Morton. Quizzes instead of a midterm helped a lot and the final was short answer/essay which was good if you understood the concepts and could explain them.
