EURO * 3150 – Topics in European Film W (3-0) [0.50]

This course will examine representative French, German, Italian and Spanish films in a socio-political context. It will focus on the interaction between the films’ aesthetics and the political and cultural conditions in Europe. The topics to be discussed in the course will centre on the relationship between the development of major movements in European film, such as Italian Neo-Realism and the French, German and Spanish New Waves, and film makers’ ideological projects such as the construction or deconstruction of national, gender and ethnic identity.
