Comment :
This course is a very easy extension on STAT 2040. Dr. Feng is wonderful at making questions on the midterms very straightforward. The class average for almost every assignment was in the 80s although the assignments could be a bit challenging Dr. Feng typically will give some of the R code. Great course for boosting your mark and learning some more useful methods of statistical analysis.

Comment :
The course is fairly straightforward, and the material you learn is pretty easy to understand if you put the time and effort into it. The course evaluation was split into 3 term tests, and 3 assignments and a final. The term tests are pretty straight forward, no real tricks and you get cheat sheets for them. The assignments are somewhat challenging for two reasons. A) You can get confused on variables and B) Using R can be a real pain. R is essential to the course so if you don\'t like using it, stay away from this course. Overall, like other people have mentioned, you should do better in this than in STAT 2040.

Professor : Umphrey

Comment :
Umphrey is the kind of prof that will reward a student for doing work. He will answer questions only after you have tried to answer them first. Tests are based on the formative assignments - so do them and check with the TAs in the M&S Learning Centre. He explains everything very well in class and teaches at a good pace. Most people will do better than they did in STAT2040.

Comment :
Fantastic professor, he was a big step up from Umphrey. Lectures were fun, the material was relatively easy to learn and the assignments were marked very easily. The midterm had a lot more theory than I expected, but you are allowed a crib sheet for help.

Prof was not good at all, he was all over the place. Course seemed very disorganized! That being said he was always very helpful during his office hours. Don't take this course unless it is required!

I enjoy stats, so this course was really enjoyable. Its easier than STAT*2040 and more applied. If you take it with Deardon, it's great. The material isnt bad and if you work hard, you will do well.
