Comment :
Monday night classes Week 1- Maidment Week 2- Lecture cancelled Week 3- Maidment lectured and showed a film Week 4- Maidment was taken off class for health reasons, no class Week 5- Brandon steps in Week 6- 40% midterm Was super stressful leading up to the first midterm, and my first interaction with a professor who was ill. Most of the class felt poorly prepared for the midterm, but I'd had Brandon as a Prof before and knew what to expect. The Legal Activism paper was worth 20% of the grade and was 12 pages, was really interesting to write but took ages and felt like it should have been worth more. Midterm and final were easy enough if you went to lectures and half-read the textbook.

Make sure you do this class with a friend or a group of people. Online midterms and online final require highly specific information that can really only be located if you work as a group. Topics are interesting, especially wrongful conviction. This class overlaps a lot with Law, Politics and Judicial Process so taking them at the same time is a good idea. Discussions are marked quite hard so make sure to go above and beyond expectations.

I had this as a Summer DE. The prof was MIA the entire course but we had a TA to ask questions to. The discussion questions forced you to apply what you read about in the weekly readings so make sure you do the reading and understand it! I do not recommend skipping any of the discussions either since they will add up in the end. Make sure you understand the material and you will do fine. The TA was extremely helpful.
