SART * 3200 – Painting II F,W (0-6) [0.50]

This course is an extension of the work begun in SART*2200. The various technical and aesthetic issues of representational painting will be further investigated as will the diverse approaches to pictorial organization derived from observation. However, the issues of abstraction and other forms of non-representational approaches will be introduced and developed in a deeper and fuller attempt to explore the possibilities available to the painter in the late 20th century.

Comment :
A must-have if you like painting. It focus on contemporary issues of painting and the place it has in the current art world. Some readings at the beginning to address them are required, but not so bad. A loooot of work, a looot of paintings to do. A couple of them are abstract ones. One painting from nature with a nude figure. The rest of paintings based on photographs and how to make the source visible.

A lot of work but if you love painting and are truly dedicated to your practice you will love this course! You also have to do some readings but they are mostly inspirational, so they aren't too bad.
