The course was very interesting. There is a lot of overlap with Cognitive Psychology and Sensation and Perception so having taken them before or at the same time is an advantage. Students in an arts background had difficulty with the course. I wouldn't recommend taking it unless you've taken some biology because it is very science-y. It should be pretty easy for people with a biology background as long as you keep up with the material. The labs were very interesting. Lab exam isn't too hard as long as you study and participate in all the labs. Midterms were definitely tricky and pretty specific. I recommend the textbook for people who have trouble with the science stuff, so you have additional study material. However, I think you could definitely do well in the course on just the lecture notes. Most people found it hard to understand Choleris because of her accent. I didn't have a problem, personally but I had trouble concentrating because she's not very engaging.

It was very difficult as someone without a science background. The midterms were very specific and were difficult to finish on time (about 150 questions in 90 minutes). The material was interesting but I found it difficult to get a high mark in.

This course is pretty boring, to be honest, but I recommend taking it if you're in psychology because it gives you a greater understanding of behaviours underlying mechanisms. The prof is very boring and at times hard to understand but her slides are very good and usually explain the concepts well. Theoretically all you need are her slides to do well but I would recommend the textbook because it explains some of the harder concepts that were rushed through a little better. But go by the lectures for her exams. There are two midterms, which were easy and a lab exam which is very fair if you study well for it. If you're from a science background, there is no reason you shouldn't get at decent mark, first year biology overlaps a lot with the beginning of this course. If you're not in science, then you need to be prepared to put in the work if you want to get a good mark but it isn't too difficult.

Pretty easy course if you have any science background. Just go to class and read the textbook and you should get an 80+. Labs are interesting, put in the work to learn the structures in the brain and you should find the lab final very easy.

I took it DE.. it was alright. If you are a really independent learner than DE would probably be good for you, otherwise I recommend waiting to take it in class. It takes more than week, minimum, for the prof to answer questions so it was difficult in that sense. I also found the papers a little hard to understand in terms of what was expected, but they are not worth that much so a poor mark does not hurt you much. The two midterms are completely based off the text book.. if you read it a few times you will do well. It does not require much insight, just memorization and since it is online you can use your notes. The format of the DE final is really fair (80 MC based on everything after the last midterm, fill in the blanks and essay/diagram questions based on everything else in the course). If you are interested in the material it is a really cool course that touches on a lot of interesting concepts.
