PHYS * 1070 – Introductory Physics for Life Sciences F,W (3-3) [0.50]

Not a bad course. Quizzes can sometimes be tricky, but it helps that you have 3 tries at them. If possible, keep trying until you get 100 on all quizzes, so you go into the final with a 50 in the course no matter what. I literally studied the night before the final (which I have learned to never do again) but I managed to come out with a final mark in the mid 80s. Orbax was great, but it took a bit of time to become used to Qin's teaching style (as well as strong accent that takes some time to get used to). Textbook was helpful, as all of the SGs have practice questions from there. I used the 4th vs 5th edition and still found it good enough.

Good course! Williams is good like always, but Brown was also very good. I usually have trouble with accents but both of them were very clear. Quizzes are more difficult than 1020 but less difficult than 1080. If you go to all the lectures, you should have no problem passing all the quizzes. The final was harder than 1080 though, you need to really know your stuff. Most people do well in this course though. It's not really that difficult.

Lectures were well organized, he doesn't post notes online though so come prepared to write. Definitely go through the study guide problems and look to the textbook for clarification, both were helpful when studying for the quizzes and final. Pay attention to some of his examples in lecture, as he hints at some that may be on the final.

Make sure you do the study guide problems, they are the majority of the test questions. Make sure you actually keep on top of the material, there isnt that much but it can be a lot to learn in one night if you leave it to the last min

this course is not too difficult if you took grade 12 physics. I used the textbook heavily but a lot of my friends were fine to just use their lecture notes for studying. the labs are a pain but the TAs are helpful. the quizzes weren't too hard, but the exam is more difficult.

William is amazing. He just GETS students and makes physics easy and funny and great!!! There's a reason he did the last lecture this year. Probably my favourite class in first year, and I had no physics background. Easy to go into the final with 100%... which means you need a 50 to pull a 75.

The material is fairly easy, but the quiz room is the same as always, a horrible place.

A little more tricky than 1020 but still not too difficult. Attend lectures, take notes and youll be fine. Wouldnt bother buying the textbook, lecture notes cover everything you will be tested on. For quizzes, study lab materials because lots of the quizzes are lab based and more specific than you would expect.

HATE the way labs are set up. And the quizzes. Worst ever. But Prof Williams is insanely funny. BOB'S YOUR UNCLE.

one word: labs. expect to need to do them on your own time, aka make time for them. you'd think physics profs would take into consideration their audience given the course title. it won't happen. textbook was great.

it was a joke. at least for me. the prof was unbelievably funny, i actually liked going to the lectures. the quizzes are not impossible to ace. and the exam is decent. i think i got lucky though. it's not a tough course in terms of workload, so make sure you don't slack. labs are a pain in the ass though
