PHYS * 1020 – Introductory Physics F,W (3-2) [0.50]

It's pretty easy, the material is covered at a good pace. Williams is a great prof and knows how to keep the class interested, even in the driest of topics. Quizzes are stressful but aren't necessarily difficult if you take the time to prepare properly. But it is the quiz room, easily one of the most stressful places on campus so be warned. Labs are pass or fail and the TA's help you a lot so they aren't something you really need to prepare for, spend your time doing more important things. Midterm was extremely easy, and so was the final. If you pass all the quizzes, you can expect a high mark in this course.

Course is not that difficult as long as you actually study and do the problems suggested. Dont study theory, the testing is more based on the examples in class and the study guides

I LOVED this class!! Especially with Williams as the professor! The class really isn't that hard at all, as long as you put some effort into it. Make sure to study for the quizzes, they make up the majority of your mark and are not hard if you focus on the examples he goes over in class (some of them pop up on the quizzes)! I didn't ever use the textbook, mainly because the examples in there were typically not like the ones we were tested on, but if you are really into reviewing examples than get it. Labs you are guaranteed to pass - worth an easy 10% of your grade. Mastering physics is quite simple most of the time too, usually you can get over 100% on the assignments! Midterm and final aren't super hard but know your stuff and practice ALL examples he gives you in class!

I hadn't taken physics since grade 10 so i was extremely worried about this course, but turns out its now my best first sem mark. Professor williams is amazing! He makes physics easy and fun to learn, of course you have to put in your effort too, but still hes hilarious and a great prof. You're basically marked on the quizzes (32%) labs (10%), mastering physics (8%), the midterm (15%), and the exam (35%). The quizzes you have 3 chances to do so you better get 8/10 on at least ONE of those, they can be tricky though so study and wait for them to grade you because the tas are usually very lenient when marking if you're there. The labs and mastering physics are an easy 18%. The midterm and exam are both fine if you know your shit. I found it easy to do good in this course, just do some textbook questions, go to class and you'll pass with an 85+.

Martin Williams is probably one of the best profs i will ever have. He makes classes fun and jokes around a lot. Baby physics is not hard at all, even if you dont have any background in physics, you could easily pass the course with at least a 70. I would bother buying the textbook, lecture notes will work wonders!

Prof Williams is like watching stand up comedy, he's hilarious. Makes physics fun.
