There is a ton of info to cover in this course, and it was easily the largest set of notes I\'ve had for any course I\'ve ever taken and is way more work than I\'ve had to put in for any other 0.5 credit course. I didn\'t find the material particularly challenging, but the sheer volume we are required to go through makes it a slog. I mostly referenced the online material, and only used the text book when prompted, but the course layout does recommend you read the textbook on top of the readings (which could easily double the time spent on this course). Being a fast reader may help, but the text is written in a very technical way that makes it not easy to read. This course was a little different this year than previous ones in that the online midterms were not open book. Because the midterms covered 2 units at a time, they were manageable, but the final will be insane for the amount of material to review. The textbook is absolutely required as some of the online readings specifically reference sections in the text that need to be read in order to get the info. The material itself is interesting, and is certainly relevant for anyone with an interest in human/animal biology, but be ready to spend a large amount of time reading and taking notes.

I took the course online (DE) of summer 2019. I really enjoyed the content of this course, as I love learning about pathology of diseases. If you know you won\'t be interested in this material I highly suggest not taking the course. It requires A LOT of time and effort. Midterms are NOT open book, they are monitored via webcam. Midterms are difficult, but if you put a lot of time into studying you will inevitably do well. Textbook is definitely NOT needed for the online version at least, the prof does a good job with giving material that is in depth. Final exam was difficult, and worth 65%. I wouldn\'t take this course as an elective if you\'re looking for a bird course/a course to boost your average.

Took this course DE and enjoyed it. The are 3 midterms worth 10 percent each and a 70 percent final (all examinations are multiple choice). Because the midterms are open book, it is very easy to do well on the midterms (class average for midterms are in the 90\'s). The exam was rather difficult though. This course requires you to go through a ton of information for the final. If you are able to memorize everything for the final you will find it decent, otherwise it will be much more difficult. Some textbook usage is required.

I took this course DE and it was my favourite course so far at Guelph! Very interesting material, and not too hard to keep up with. The manual they give you is very thorough and makes chronological sense. 3 midterms worth 10% each, and a 70% final. Easy to do well!

I took the online course, I would consider it a little more difficult than an in course class because there is no prof to explain things. It comes with a course manual that is really helpful, all the material is found in there. The are three "midterms" and an exam. The discussion boards are very helpful and the prof is really great at answering any questions you might have.

A great course...the prof is fantastic and the material is really interesting and applicable everywhere. I hadn't taken any health-related courses before and I did very well. Just study the given materials and attend lecture, mainly to hear the prof's awesome stories.

Fantastic course. Foster is probably one of my favourite profs, hilarious, and the material is very interesting as well. Midterms and final were fair. The second midterm and the final were the same format, short-answer problem solving type questions, that made you think, and not just memorize information.

Dr rob foster is the best prof there is. Great course, interesting material so its not that bad to study for it. Midterms are not to bad if you know your stuff. Final exam is all short answer. I took it as en elective when i was in second year and it was fine.
