I didnt really enjoy this 'class' but I did really appreciate all the experience it gave me in a real lab setting. It gives you a really good idea as to how research is actually done and shows you what kind of things you will be doing if you choose to become a masters student. You have to find a professor that will let you work in their lab before you are allowed to sign into the course, and my advice is to start this process early! It didn't take me long to find a professor but I know lots of people who left it too late and weren't able to take this course because of it! So start looking the winter before you are planing to take this. The marks came from 2 presentations, lab work and a final paper. Most people didnt do well on the first presentation (5 mins and worth about 10 percent of total mark) but most people learned from their mistakes and did MUCH better for the second presentation (12 mins and about 20 percent of final mark). Most people did really well on the lab work mark which is given by your professor and is 50% of your total mark (I dont know of anyone who got less then 85% on this part). The paper is due on the last day of class and is a manuscript style paper. I recommend starting as early as you can because it turns out to be more work then most people expect!
