Excellent prof who is willing to help whoever seeks it. Marking scheme allows you to drop your lowest midterm (out of 3) and make your exam worth 50% instead of 35% if it gives you a better mark in the end. Weekly online quizzes (with infinite attempts each), worth 20% of your mark, are an excellent alternative to homework, as well as assisting you in achieving a better grade. If you keep up with the content in the course, it should not be too difficult.

Good class, great prof. He is enthusiastic, funny, ALWAYS available if you need help. Answers questions on the discussion forums constantly and responds to emails quickly. He has tons of office hours. I used the 6th edition textbook to practice extra questions - definitely recommend it. The new 7th edition isn't necessary since all the homework in the course manual (which you have to get) is from the 6th edition (they give you an extra sheet with the adjustments to the homework if you are using the newer edition). MapleTA online quizzes are 20% of your grade and are good practice and super easy marks. You can repeat them as many times as you want until you get 100% (they are like 2-4 marks each). Go to the seminar classes so you get the potential test questions. Keep up with homework so you can follow in class. The 3 midterms are non-cumulative and the final exam focuses heavily on the last 1/4 of the course. Reviewing trig stuff early is definitely recommended since they expect you to know it. Go in for extra help and he will explain it to you if you are lost. The marking scheme is super fair - he'll drop one midterm if it helps your mark.

My best class for the first semester of engineering. Demers taught me to enjoy math and eventually, I became better at it. Started the course with a 77 and ended with a 91 because of Demer's excellent teaching and help. Most people do very well in this course, because the teacher is amazing. He's a proud nerd and wants his students to do well. For the final, know the proof for the fundamental theorem of calculus because it's ALWAYS on EVERY calculus exam every created for a first year Calculus class. Don't buy the textbook, but do the examples from the course manual to sharpen your skills and the Maple TA quizzes are godly. This course is an average booster if you know what you're doing but it is easy to fall behind and not understand anything. If that happends, seek help and Demers will be happy to get you up to date.

Great prof helped a lot. At first the course seemed very overwhelming (considering it was my first semester of university), but looking back the course doesn't look too difficult. Textbook wasn't needed (at least I never used it). If the new prof is still using Jack's Course notes the text is unnecessary.

If you didn't want to learn anything about math, taking this course with Weiner was a great way to chew up and spit out some math-like stuff. educational value = ~0. expect a ton of memorization of formulae.

This course was actually pretty easy, but I had a great prof (Jack Weiner) who made it easy to learn. Unfortunately he is no longer teaching the course.
