This course offers a comparative analysis of revolutionary movements in the modern world. It focuses on the French Revolution, the development of a revolutionary tradition in the 19th century, the Russian Revolution, and the Communist Revolution in China. Comparative themes include the relative importance of ideology and class conflict, the emergence of professional revolutionaries, and the relationship between revolutions and international relations.

Comment :
Looks at the French, Russian and Chinese Revolutions. Does not go into great detail into the topics but hits all the major points as well as comparisons between them. Recommend the readings but the prof does go through them briefly in class as part of the lectures. The prof did not use slides but rather free lectured so make sure you can keep up with note writing while listening. A small 5min presentation on a given topic, a 14page essay on any topic that relates to one of the mentioned revolutions, a final and class participation marks (just show up). Overall interesting course and much better than I thought it would be for a class on revolutions.
