HIST * 1010 – The Early Modern World F,W (3-0) [0.50]

This course will deal with the evolution and expansion of European society during the pre-industrial era. Commencing with the Renaissance and Reformation it will survey such themes as the voyages of exploration, the impact of western culture on indigenous societies, the development of commercial capitalism, the transformation of science and technology and the conflict between imperial powers in Europe and overseas. Such an easy class, but wasn't too boring either. I'm in science and took it as an arts credit. The midterm was a breeze, and no major essays.

A bit boring, a bit interesting, I am on the fence about this class. I remember liking the content itself but not the way it was delivered. We watched some weird movies in that class, haha! They were good for a while but I think just showing small clips would be more effective than taking up class time with a big chunk of a movie that made no sense.

Pretty much a review of grade 12 history, a good introductory course for first years but I took it in my third year and there was a whole lecture devoted to learning how to use the library... so that was a bit unnecessary for me ahaha. Work load was average with a response due every week and just one major assignment.

I LOVED history in high school, but I definitely was not a huge fan of this class. Every midterm and for the final, the prof had to increase everyones marks to sustain a better class average. Prof Goddard was good and you could tell he was passionate about teaching history.
