Pretty decent course. Need to stay on top of the readings. It is possible to find the 9th edition of the textbook as an eBook. Readings are given for versions dating back to the 6th ed, so you can buy old versions as well.

Overall this is a very good course. The concepts introduced in part one of the course may seem daunting at first but get reinforced and built on as the course proceeds. Moreover the concepts are linked to real life case studies in areas such as fisheries and forestry that help solidify the economic concepts. I took this course when professor Deaton was teaching it and he does an excellent job. Make sure you attend every class otherwise his lecture slides won't make much sense to you. I highly recommend the textbook. Deaton follows its layout. Thus if there was something you didnt understand or want extra practice problems the text is great. For many this course is required; if you're not terribly good at economics don't let this course frighten you.

i agree, Aaron DeLaporte was not a good professor. he would explain something in a confusing manner, someone would ask for clarification, he would talk a little more and wouldn't really answer their question, and then he would admit he didn't really know the answer. And it def. could have been a great course if taught my someone more familiar with the material.

DO NOT - I will repeat - DO NOT take this course if it is being taught by Aaron DeLaporte. He was a terrible professor for what could have been a simple and interesting course. The information was very useful and I have been told by other people who took the course before me that the regular professor made it much more worthwhile.
