I would not recommend taking this course if you do not find bees interesting (ie. not a very good bird course). I found the content very interesting but found the midterms to be a bit unfair, I found some of the questions were on terms that he had not mentioned in class or were in the textbook readings (I\'m assuming he has a question bank and mentioned them previous years). The written assignment was vague and was marked on things that were not in the instructions. Overall I mostly enjoyed this course because I find bees very interesting, but I think it needs to be a bit more realistic in it\'s expectations. I managed to pull off a 90+ but not without a lot of frustration and speaking to TAs.

This course has simple concepts that are cloudy with complexity because of the level of detail that is need to be successful. You must know every detail in the textbook because the questions for both midterms and the exam come from a bank of questions. Highly recommended that you start a notes taking group!! This was supposed to be my easy course!

Do NOT take this class DE with prof Guzman unless you're prepared to memorize every single detail in a 400 page textbook. That is what is expected in this class, I'm not exaggerating at all. Most of the material is interesting, but it's hard to enjoy reading/studying the material when there's so much to know. This course should definitely be worth 1 full credit, or be a third year course, definitely not second year. The two online midterms (worth 15% each), aren't as bad as the final because you can use your textbook to look up each term, although it does not have an index to search for certain words. There's also a short article which can easily be done the day before it's due, worth 15%. The last assignment is 5 online conferences, worth 20% in total, which are easy but take quite a bit of time to research.

Great course! It is not hard to do well at all. If you come to lecture and pay attention you barely need to study for the midterms. The W11 section had two midterms, but only the best one counted, a short(2-3pg)paper on a subject of your choosing and a final exam. This class makes you want to keep bees but it also makes you understand the ecological importance of bees. I had Gard Otis as a prof and he was amazing. He wore a bee themed shirt to every class and never wore the same one twice, plus he gave away bee related stuff on a regular basis.

I absolutely loved this class! I had the greatest prof, he was amazing and it's not hard to do well. A lot of non science majors take this course to fullfill their science elective requirements. I suggest attending lectures and reviewing your notes, however it is not an intensive course, the material is interesting and it's extremely easy to follow. I definitly recommend taking it!
