Comment :
This is a really interesting and intense course that introduces you to modernism in Canada. It's not a very well-defined period (sort of a study of the "dark-age" of Canadian literature), as texts from 1920-60 weren't widely publicized. That said, you should be studying an array of art-forms (paintings, films, poetry), that made a huge impact on establishing a Canadian literary identity. If anything, you'll learn that early Can Lit is more than just a stack of dreary stories about living in the prairie. Very worth-while!
