This survey course introduces students to the terms, methodologies, and debates that form the interdisciplinary critical practice of Latina/o Studies. The course takes a pan-Latina/o approach to the study of English-language and cultural production by various Latina/os primarily in the U.S. Because different Latina/o groups have been concentrated in particular U.S. regions and cities, the approach allows students to study how Latina/o literature and art have shaped the politics and culture of different regions and cities. Reading-intensive course. (Offered in odd-numbered years.)
