Oh. My. God. This course is absolute DEATH. Zhu may be well intentioned with her students but she is IMPOSSIBLE to understand. I didn't even bother going to her office hours because I knew I just wouldn't be able to understand her and it would waste my time. I hired as many tutors as I could to pass this course, and pass it I did, but only with a 61. You've GOT to work hard and do questions on it daily, if you can. I could never understand the questions anyways. Ultimately, my goal was not to be an engineer at the end of the day anyways, so I switched my major, but good luck to all of you who have to take it. :|

This course will take the majority of your time in first year and it is the most challenging course. You cannot survive this class if you dont get help from all the resources that are available to you i.e. Prof, TAs, notes, textbook, and peer helpers. Overall, try your best to pass the course otherwise it will be difficult to take future courses.

A damn hard course. That's all I can say. If you have Zhu, she's very helpful and wants her students to pass so she gives extra projects, assignments, quizzes and bonus questions so people can pass. Midterm and final exam are killers. This course is a great indicator of how much you can take as a first year student and an engineering student. The amount of hard work you put into this is what you should expect for the next 4-5 years of engineering at guelph. Take advantage of any free marks that you get and hopefully you pass.

The course is definitely difficult, but looking back on it a lot of the material is so applicable and useful for other mechanics courses. It's definitely a need-to-have course for mechanicals, but don't sweat it if you don't do as well as you had hoped. Most of the mechanics courses overlap with each other, and by third or fourth year this stuff is second nature. As for the prof...if you have satish negi you're screwed. You might as well buy the text book and learn it all yourself. Oh and one last thought, DO THE ASSIGNMENTS!!! I know your buddy has the solutions and you just want to pass, but the assignments are the best study tool. Anyways, hope this helps. B.M

I took this course twice with two different profs and failed miserably both times. Then I switched my major. This course is definitely the litmus indicator of potential to actually become a real engineer; not for the faint of heart.

Course is quite difficult I've heard, even with a decent prof. Unfortunately my prof's english was hard to understand, and I was actually quite satisfied when I passed with a 55. I'm glad to have this course over with.
