Comment :
I have mixed feelings about this course. While I found the prof interesting and easy to listen to in class, the material wasn\'t really organized the best and he would go off on tangents a lot. However, the concepts were almost all ones I had learned about before. Almost half the course is based off of the Nash book which I found interesting but hard to keep up on the readings as they were kind of dry. In the end there weren\'t even any questions from the book on the final exam. Midterm/Exam were okay, but a lot of people found them very difficult because they weren\'t just regurgitating the information from lectures.

Course is meh... MacDougall makes it not too hard to pay attention during lecture, but the lecture is more like him discussing things instead of one topic every day its just a machine gun spray of stuff, found it hard to organize notes etc, lecture notes are next to useless Midterm, Essay, Presentation and Final. Midterm was all short answer and not really questions you would expect, found it quite difficult when youre used to mult.choice or specific short answer exams. Seems like its a course that tests your writing ability more than your ability to learn the concepts. Theres easier, more interesting and more appropriately evaluated courses out there as an elective.

Very simple course. It covers a lot of information that anyone who is majoring in Ecology or and ENVS should have learned before. It is still interesting, and the prof. is excellent. Some questions on the exams and midterm are tricky, but if you can get a hold of an old copy most of the questions will be the same or very similar.
