This was a course that I didn't really enjoy. I wish that I could have been more interested in the course. It has some interesting aspects, but its not the greatest course.

Extremely interesting class. I would recommend it for anyone with an eye for art. Definitely alot more interesting than Historical Arts 1, learning more about specific artists and themes. Looking at very well known artists and periods, such as Italian renaissance, baroque, Da Vinci, Michelangelo. A good introduction to what you may want to focus your studies on. Depending on the prof, lectures can be boring. But content is always interesting. Whenever Potvin is a teacher, take the course! He is extremely direct with material, and not confusing about what to study for.

The lectures themselves were interesting and informative but the two midterms were terrible. I expected the midterms to be mostly about the art, the symbolism found in it, and the history surrounding it but prof Potvin had sections which were mainly on obscure theories he mentioned once in class. That being said, you HAVE to attend every lecture, because he never really mentions them again.

This was a very well taught class. I really enjoyed learning about the Italian Renaissance, and the eras of art that followed. It was easy to follow, and I learned a lot about art, and artists of the time period.

The course itself is difficult if you have no prior knowledge to this subject. If you get Potvin as a Prof. enjoy it, he's incredibly funny and always full of energy. Also very helpful with students.
